Samath “Sam” Mourn, age 44, of Janesville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at UW Hospital in Madison on May 15, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. His departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
Born and raised in Janesville, Sam was a man of integrity, warmth, and deep familial devotion. He approached life with an open heart and a ready laugh, endearing himself to family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to cross his path. Sam had a gift for making people feel at ease and a rare ability to find joy in life’s simplest pleasures.
Sam’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Dena, and their three beloved children: Donnell, Dontay, and Dasani. As a husband and father, Sam was a steady presence—devoted, caring, and always willing to sacrifice for those he loved. He instilled in his children a sense of kindness, resilience, and the importance of staying true to themselves.
Sam also leaves behind his devoted parents and siblings, who will miss his warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty. Family gatherings were made brighter by his spirit, and his stories—always delivered with a laugh—will be remembered for years to come.
Outside of his role as a family man, Sam enjoyed the peace and patience that came with fishing. Whether on a quiet lake or a local stream, he found solace and reflection in nature. He was also known for his passion for cooking—especially his ability to turn a simple meal into something unforgettable. Friends and family often gathered around his table, sharing food, laughter, and moments that now live on in memory.
Those who knew Sam will remember his quick wit, his love of music, and the strength he showed through life’s challenges. He was the kind of man who lifted others up—often without recognition or fanfare. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and living life with purpose.
A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Schneider Funeral Directors in Janesville. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
Though his time on earth was far too short, the impact Sam Mourn made will last for generations. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Rest in peace, Sam. Your memory lives on in every laugh, every quiet moment, and every heart you touched.
