  • RANDOM BUS STOP SHOOTING – TWO INJURED, JOSE GUILLEN ARRESTED

RANDOM BUS STOP SHOOTING – TWO INJURED, JOSE GUILLEN ARRESTED

Tulsa, OK – June 30, 2025 — A frightening act of random violence shocked the Tulsa community Monday evening when gunfire erupted at a bus stop near the QuikTrip located at 11th and Utica, leaving two men injured and leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Jose Guillen.

Around 5:30 p.m., a Tulsa Police officer in the area was flagged down by witnesses reporting a shooting that had just taken place. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One man had been shot in the leg, and the other had a wound to the shoulder. Emergency responders transported both individuals to the hospital, where they are currently being treated for their injuries. Authorities have stated that the wounds appear to be non-life-threatening.

Witnesses at the scene told police that a white Lexus sedan approached the bus stop and, without any warning or provocation, someone from inside the vehicle opened fire on the unsuspecting individuals before speeding away. Surveillance footage confirmed the account, and investigators immediately began working to identify and locate the vehicle.

Detectives were able to trace the Lexus to an apartment complex in the 5000 block of South 136th East Avenue. Later that evening, around 10:00 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The driver, later identified as Jose Guillen, refused to stop, leading police on a brief pursuit before eventually pulling over.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered several shell casings that are believed to be linked to the earlier shooting. Guillen was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Tulsa County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of Shooting With Intent to Kill.

Authorities have emphasized that this is currently an arrest, not a conviction, and Jose Guillen is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the attack, and the shooting appears to be completely unprovoked. The Tulsa Police Department continues to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information or video footage to come forward.

The names of the victims have not yet been released, but both are expected to recover. This senseless act of violence has rattled the local community, prompting calls for heightened safety and awareness in public spaces.

Tulsa Police officials praised the swift actions of officers and the cooperation of the public, which allowed for the rapid identification and arrest of the suspect. As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to ensuring that justice is served and that those impacted by this violence receive the support they need.

Rest in Peace: North Carolina Detention Officer Francisco Flattes Killed in the Line of Duty

North Carolina : It is with profound sorrow and outrage that we mourn the loss of Detention Officer Francisco Flattes, who was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty while performing his responsibilities with unwavering courage. Officer Flattes, 56, was escorting a federal inmate to a medical appointment at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in North Carolina when the unthinkable occurred.

According to law enforcement reports, Officer Flattes and his colleague, Officer George Feinauer, were supervising an inmate identified as Simmons during a routine medical transport. At some point during the appointment, a violent struggle ensued. In the chaos, Simmons managed to overpower Officer Flattes, seize his firearm, and open fire. Officer Flattes was critically wounded and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Officer Feinauer sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the altercation.

Following the brutal attack, Simmons fled the hospital grounds, stole a vehicle, and attempted to evade capture. A massive manhunt quickly followed, involving multiple law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals Service. Simmons was located and taken into custody in Macon County, NC, shortly after his escape.

The loss of Officer Flattes is an immeasurable tragedy for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, where he had served honorably for the past four years. • Da’Quan Jones Charged in Fatal Shooting of Larry Smith on Burton Street in Hampton

Da’Quan Jones Charged in Fatal Shooting of Larry Smith on Burton Street in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. — A fatal shooting on Monday, June 30, 2025, has left 52-year-old Larry Smith dead and 21-year-old Da’Quan Jones in police custody, following a deadly altercation on Burton Street in Hampton. Police responded to the scene just before 1:00 p.m., where they discovered Smith lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Hampton Police Division, the shooting occurred after a verbal confrontation between Smith and Jones escalated while the two were walking near the intersection of Burton Street and Londonshire Terrace. During the argument, investigators say Jones produced a firearm and opened fire on Smith.

Jones, a resident of Hampton, was quickly located and taken into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including:

    •Second-Degree Murder

•Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony

    •Reckless Handling of a Firearm

•Willful Discharge of a Firearm in Public

    Alleged Shooter’s Father Speaks Out

On the scene, emotions ran high—not only from the victim’s grieving family but also from the family of the accused. Lorenzo Jones, the father of Da’Quan Jones, spoke with 13News Now, claiming his son was acting in self-defense.

“This is crazy. Now my child is in jail,” Lorenzo said, clearly distraught. “He doesn’t harm anybody for no reason. This man [Larry Smith] was trying to hurt my child, and that’s why he fired his firearm. That’s the only reason. He’s nobody’s murderer, he’s nobody’s killer. That’s not who he is.”

Lorenzo also stated that a protective order had previously been filed by a family member against Larry Smith, suggesting a troubled history between the families. Authorities have not yet confirmed those claims, and the details surrounding any previous conflicts remain under investigation.

    Eyewitness Recounts the Scene

Neighbor Sonya Ivey, who lives nearby, told investigators and reporters that she heard gunshots and saw Larry Smith collapse outside her window.

“I’m shocked, scared,” Ivey said. “I thought this was a safe neighborhood. He [Jones] was running away after seeing this man lying there lifeless, and just the disregard for what he had just done—to this man, to his family—it was hard to watch.”

    Community Grieves as Investigation Unfolds

The shooting has devastated two families and shaken the Hampton community. Larry Smith’s loved ones were too overcome with grief to speak on camera but expressed their need for answers and accountability.

Meanwhile, the Jones family remains stunned, defending Da’Quan as someone who was not violent by nature and had no intent to kill. “I’m still delirious right now. I can’t believe this happened,” Lorenzo Jones said.

The Hampton Police Division’s Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation and has urged anyone with additional information to come forward. So far, they have not released further details regarding the confrontation or any past disputes between Smith and Jones.

As both families mourn and seek justice, the community is left grappling with yet another tragic example of how quickly lives can change in an instant.

  • ATLANTA — Officer Garrett Rolfe Placed on Administrative Leave Following Physical Altercation at X Midtown Club

ATLANTA — Officer Garrett Rolfe Placed on Administrative Leave Following Physical Altercation at X Midtown Club

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed that Officer Garrett Rolfe, the officer previously at the center of the controversial 2020 fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks, has been placed on administrative leave after being involved in a physical altercation outside a Midtown Atlanta nightclub.

    What Happened

According to police, Rolfe, who was off duty at the time, was involved in a verbal and physical dispute with another man, identified as Raefeael Penrice, outside X Midtown, a popular nightlife venue located on Piedmont Avenue. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigators say the verbal confrontation escalated into a physical altercation. Penrice was arrested at the scene and charged with simple battery and battery. He was booked into Fulton County Jail. At this time, Officer Rolfe has not been charged, but APD has placed him on administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the Office of Professional Standards.

It remains unclear whether Rolfe was working a private security detail or was at the club in a personal capacity as a patron.

    Who Is Garrett Rolfe?

Garrett Rolfe first drew national attention in June 2020 following the fatal police shooting of Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old Black man, outside a Wendy’s restaurant on University Avenue in southeast Atlanta.

Police were called to the scene for reports of a man asleep in his vehicle in the drive-thru lane. Officers, including Rolfe, attempted to arrest Brooks for suspected DUI. A struggle ensued, during which Brooks reportedly grabbed an officer’s Taser and attempted to flee, firing it in Rolfe’s direction as he ran away. Rolfe fired his weapon, fatally striking Brooks. The incident was captured on dashcam and surveillance footage and quickly ignited outrage.

The killing occurred just weeks after the murder of George Floyd and fueled further national protests against police brutality and systemic racism. The Wendy’s restaurant where the shooting occurred was later set on fire during demonstrations.

Rolfe was fired from APD, arrested, and charged with 11 criminal counts, including felony murder. His termination was later overturned, and he was reinstated to the Atlanta Police Department in May 2021, though he remained on administrative leave pending legal proceedings.

In August 2022, all criminal charges against Rolfe were dropped. A special prosecutor appointed by Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr concluded that the officer’s use of deadly force was legally justified under state law.

    Ongoing Scrutiny

Rolfe’s involvement in a public altercation has reignited public scrutiny and sparked concern from civil rights advocates who had already questioned his return to law enforcement following the high-profile shooting.

While Penrice was the only individual arrested in this latest incident, the Atlanta Police Department emphasized that the situation is under investigation. The Office of Professional Standards will determine whether Rolfe’s conduct violated department policies or expectations of off-duty behavior.

Community members and leaders are again calling for transparency and accountability as APD navigates yet another controversial episode involving the officer.

    The Larger Impact

The shooting of Rayshard Brooks in 2020 had deep ramifications for the city of Atlanta. Then-Police Chief Erika Shields resigned shortly after the incident, and the city experienced multiple nights of protests, leading to a broader conversation about the role of policing, the use of deadly force, and the need for reform in the criminal justice system.

Now, with Officer Rolfe back in the headlines—this time connected to an altercation outside a popular nightclub—the past is colliding with the present in a city still grappling with the effects of that painful chapter.

As the investigation unfolds, the public continues to watch closely, awaiting answers and accountability.
