Man Identified and Charged After Major Wire Theft Operation in St. Louis City

St. Louis, MO – Authorities have arrested 34-year-old Deandre Smith in connection with a widespread wire theft operation that has impacted infrastructure and public safety across St. Louis City. The arrest followed a joint investigation by the Crime Analysis Unit, Intelligence Division, and officers from Districts 1, 2, and 6, who collectively linked Smith to at least 25 separate theft incidents.

The investigation revealed that Smith was targeting utility wires, causing significant disruption to essential city services, damaging public infrastructure, and putting communities at risk. Detectives located and arrested Smith while he was driving a stolen Ford F-250, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of stolen wire and even a street lamp.

The case was presented to the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, which issued an extensive array of charges against Smith, including:

    • 63 felony counts for crimes such as:
      • Stealing Over $750,
      • Tampering with Utilities – First Degree,
      • Property Damage – First Degree,
      • Tampering – First Degree, and
      • Possession of a Controlled Substance
    • Three misdemeanor charges were also filed.

Investigators believe that Smith’s actions resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages, including the cost of the stolen materials and the repairs needed to restore impacted infrastructure.

Wire theft is a growing issue in urban centers, and officials warn that it poses serious risks—including exposed live wires, power outages, and service disruptions that can compromise public safety and lead to financial strain for both residents and local governments.

While Smith is now in custody, detectives say the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to determine if he may be connected to additional cases or had accomplices.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department urges residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity involving utility infrastructure. Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the department directly or provide anonymous tips through CrimeStoppers.

Smith’s arrest marks a significant step in addressing a costly and dangerous trend affecting St. Louis and other cities across the country.

  • Michigan Prep School Teacher Jocelynn Sanroman Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relationship with 16-Year-Old Student

Michigan Prep School Teacher Jocelynn Sanroman Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relationship with 16-Year-Old Student

Oakland County, MI — A 26-year-old prep school teacher, Jocelynn Sanroman, has been arrested and charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Student in the Third Degree following allegations of a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student. The disturbing incident allegedly occurred in August 2023, but came to light only recently after Sanroman reportedly boasted about the encounter to a co-worker, who later reported her to authorities.

Sanroman, who was employed at Oakside Prep Academy, a charter school in Oakland County, is accused of engaging in unlawful sexual conduct with the minor while in a position of authority and trust as an educator. According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, the student was actively enrolled at the school at the time of the incident.

The case took a significant turn when Sanroman allegedly disclosed details of the encounter to a colleague, seemingly without concern for the legal or ethical gravity of her actions. That colleague, recognizing the serious nature of the allegation, alerted authorities, triggering a formal investigation that ultimately led to Sanroman’s arrest on Monday.

    Charges and Legal Implications

Sanroman now faces three felony charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Student in the Third Degree. Under Michigan law, third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a student and a school employee carries a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years per count, especially when the offender is in a position of authority over the victim, such as a teacher.

In cases involving minors, especially where power dynamics are involved, the law is clear: consent is not a defense. The legal system views any sexual relationship between a student and an educator as an abuse of power, regardless of the student’s age or apparent willingness.

    Reaction from Authorities and Community

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office released a statement condemning the alleged conduct:

“This case highlights a serious breach of professional ethics and a criminal abuse of trust. Teachers hold a unique position of influence over students, and that position must never be exploited. We commend the individual who came forward and reported this behavior.”

Oakside Prep Academy has not released a public statement regarding the arrest, but sources familiar with the school’s administration say that Sanroman has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. The school is also expected to cooperate fully with law enforcement and provide resources for students and families impacted by the case.

    Ongoing Investigation

While Sanroman has been formally charged, the investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement officials are working to determine whether there may be additional victims or whether other school personnel had knowledge of the misconduct and failed to report it.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has encouraged anyone with information related to the case — including past students or staff members — to come forward.

    Community Concerns

The arrest has sparked outrage and concern among parents, educators, and students alike. Allegations of sexual misconduct involving a trusted adult and a minor strike at the core of community safety and the integrity of the education system.

Local parent organizations have already begun calling for stricter oversight and background checks for charter school employees, as well as improved mechanisms for reporting misconduct within school systems.

Jocelynn Sanroman is currently being held in custody, with arraignment proceedings underway. A bond decision and preliminary hearing date will be announced in the coming days.

Anyone with tips or concerns related to this case is encouraged to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office or the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Cornelius Jacques Robinson Arrested in Rowlett Shooting with Help from Multiple Police Agencies

Rowlett, TX — On the evening of June 30, 2025, a swift and coordinated response by multiple law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of Cornelius Jacques Robinson, the suspect in a shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of Coyle Street in Rowlett.

At approximately 8:40 PM, officers with the Rowlett Police Department responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located a male victim who had been shot following a verbal altercation with an unknown individual. The suspect, later identified as Robinson, fled the scene on foot.

Before being transported to the hospital, the victim — a Rowlett resident — was able to provide officers with vital information about the suspect. The victim underwent surgery and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Recognizing the threat posed by an armed suspect, Rowlett Police immediately engaged neighboring law enforcement agencies. The Garland Police Department, Mesquite Police Department, and DART Police Department joined the search effort. Utilizing tracking dogs, the Mesquite K9 Unit located Cornelius Jacques Robinson near Main Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, two firearms were recovered. Investigators believe one of the weapons was used in the shooting.

Robinson has been formally charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond has been set at $50,000, and he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

Rowlett Police praised the interagency collaboration that led to Robinson’s swift apprehension. “Thanks to the coordinated efforts and professionalism of all involved, a dangerous suspect is off the streets,” said a department spokesperson.

  • Juvenile Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder and Robbery in Tuscaloosa Shooting

Juvenile Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder and Robbery in Tuscaloosa Shooting

Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Authorities have arrested and charged a juvenile in connection with a shooting that occurred Friday morning in Tuscaloosa, leaving a 38-year-old man injured and a community on edge. The suspect, whose identity is being withheld due to their age, now faces serious felony charges, including Attempted Murder and Robbery, stemming from a violent encounter that unfolded along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

According to Capt. Marty Sellers of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, police responded to a report of gunfire in the 3300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, officers located the male victim, a 38-year-old Tuscaloosa resident, who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim informed police that he had initially given the suspect money, but the situation escalated when the suspect returned demanding more cash. When the victim refused, the suspect shot him and allegedly stole additional money before fleeing the scene.

Working quickly, investigators gathered witness statements and reviewed available surveillance footage, ultimately identifying a juvenile suspect. Authorities were able to locate and arrest the individual, who has since been transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where they are being held without bond pending a judicial hearing.

    Serious Charges Filed Against Juvenile

Due to the severity of the charges, Capt. Sellers confirmed that the juvenile is being charged as an adult and is being held in county jail rather than a juvenile detention center — a decision often reserved for violent crimes involving firearms and significant bodily harm.

The juvenile now faces two major charges:

    • Attempted Murder
    • Robbery (First-Degree)

The Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Office will determine the next steps in the legal process, including whether the case will proceed entirely in adult court. Given the gravity of the alleged actions and the use of a firearm, prosecutors are expected to push for strong accountability.

    Victim Recovering, Community Left Shaken

The shooting has left the community grappling with the troubling rise in violent crime involving young suspects. Fortunately, the victim is recovering and receiving medical treatment, and authorities report that his injuries are not considered life-threatening. However, the emotional and psychological scars of such a violent encounter may endure far longer.

“We are fortunate that this incident did not result in a fatality,” said Capt. Sellers. “This was a senseless act of violence that could have ended very differently. We are committed to pursuing justice for the victim and ensuring that our community remains safe.”

    Ongoing Investigation

While the primary suspect is now in custody, the investigation remains active. Authorities are working to determine whether anyone else was involved in the planning or execution of the robbery and shooting. Law enforcement officials encourage any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit continues to handle the investigation and is urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Tuscaloosa Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (205) 752-STOP.

As the legal process moves forward, this case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of youth involvement in violent crime — and the devastating toll such actions can take on individuals and communities alike.

  • Samuel Camposeco Sentenced to Life in Prison for Attempted Murder of Police Officer During 2017 Dinuba Gang-Related Robbery

Samuel Camposeco Sentenced to Life in Prison for Attempted Murder of Police Officer During 2017 Dinuba Gang-Related Robbery

Dinuba, California — Justice has been served in a case that shook the city of Dinuba and its law enforcement community. On July 1, 2025, in Department 10 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Samuel Camposeco, age 29, was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the attempted murder of a peace officer during a gang-related armed robbery at a Texaco gas station in 2017.

The violent incident, which unfolded on January 5, 2017, began when Samuel Camposeco and accomplice Luis Vargas—both armed with semi-automatic firearms—stormed the Texaco gas station in Dinuba, attempting to commit an armed robbery. The situation escalated when an off-duty police officer, inside the store at the time, recognized suspicious behavior and exited the store to call for assistance.

Moments later, a Dinuba Police Department officer coincidentally arrived at the scene as his shift began. From outside the building, the officer witnessed Luis Vargas pistol-whipping the store clerk, while Camposeco, wearing a gray hoodie, pointed a firearm at the clerk. Acting quickly, the officer identified himself by announcing, “Dinuba Police Department” before entering the store and firing to stop the violent assault.

Camposeco and Vargas returned fire immediately, forcing the officer to retreat to the safety of his patrol vehicle. In the chaos, the two suspects grabbed money from the store and fled the scene in separate directions. Vargas charged toward the officer, still armed, and refused multiple commands to drop his weapon. In the ensuing shootout, Vargas was struck multiple times by the officer’s return fire and later died from his injuries.

Camposeco managed to escape that night but was located and arrested a month later in the city of Exeter, ending a multi-agency manhunt.

    Guilty Verdict and Charges

Following a bifurcated trial conducted under AB 333, which required separate consideration for gang-related enhancements, Camposeco was found guilty on a comprehensive set of serious felony charges, including:

    • Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer with Premeditation, including the special allegation of discharging a firearm
    • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, with special allegations of firearm use and commission for the benefit of a criminal street gang
    • Robbery, with firearm and gang allegations
    • Assault with a Semi-Automatic Firearm on a Peace Officer, with firearm enhancement
    • Assault with a Semi-Automatic Firearm on the Store Clerk, with firearm and gang allegations

On May 29, 2025, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict. On June 3, 2025, the jury confirmed that all crimes were committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang, significantly enhancing the sentencing consequences.

Adding to the severity of the sentence was Camposeco’s prior strike conviction for attempted residential burglary in 2016, which qualified under California’s Three Strikes Law.

A Victory for Justice and a Warning to Violent Offenders

“This case is a stark reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers face every day,” said a representative from the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office. “Samuel Camposeco showed no regard for human life, firing at an officer doing his duty to protect the public and violently assaulting an innocent store clerk. The sentence handed down today ensures he will no longer pose a threat to society.”

The Dinuba Police Department, along with community leaders, have expressed gratitude for the work of the jury, prosecutors, and law enforcement agencies that ensured justice was served after years of preparation, investigation, and court proceedings.

    Conclusion

The sentencing of Samuel Camposeco to 50 years to life represents a decisive response to gang violence, attempted murder, and the deliberate targeting of peace officers. It also delivers long-awaited closure to the victims of this terrifying incident — including the wounded store clerk, the targeted officers, and the broader Dinuba community traumatized by this brazen act of violence.

With this chapter now closed, the message from law enforcement and the justice system is clear: those who attempt to harm public servants and terrorize communities through gang violence will be held accountable — and removed from society for good.

  • Fairfield Psychiatrist Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of a Patient

Fairfield Psychiatrist Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of a Patient

Fairfield, Connecticut — The Fairfield Police Department (FPD) has announced the arrest of a local psychiatrist following an investigation into a disturbing report of sexual misconduct involving a patient. Dr. Lazaro Pomeraniec has been charged with Sexual Assault in the 4th Degree, a serious allegation that has sent shockwaves through the Fairfield medical community and beyond.

According to FPD, the arrest comes after a complaint was made by a patient who alleged inappropriate and unlawful conduct by Dr. Pomeraniec during the course of treatment. Authorities have not released specific details about the incident, citing the sensitive nature of the case and the ongoing investigation being conducted by the department’s Special Victims Unit.

The 4th-degree sexual assault charge suggests that the alleged incident involved non-consensual sexual contact, a criminal offense under Connecticut law that applies when a person in a position of power — such as a medical professional — uses that authority to exploit or take advantage of someone under their care.

Dr. Pomeraniec was taken into custody by Fairfield Police and later released on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 10, 2025, where he will face formal proceedings related to the charge.

The arrest has raised concerns within the local community, especially among those who may have received psychiatric treatment from Dr. Pomeraniec in the past. While the investigation is currently focused on a single patient, police are urging anyone with information about this case — or any other potential incidents — to come forward.

Fairfield Police are asking individuals who may have experienced inappropriate conduct or who have relevant information to contact the Special Victims Unit directly at 203-254-4804. All reports will be handled with discretion, and victims will be provided access to support services and resources.

    Public Reaction and Professional Implications

As of now, it is unclear whether Dr. Pomeraniec is still practicing or if his license to treat patients has been suspended. Local medical boards and professional oversight agencies are likely to review the allegations as part of their own investigative processes. Medical professionals accused of such crimes often face disciplinary action separate from criminal charges, including the potential for license suspension or revocation.

Fairfield Police have not disclosed whether the alleged assault occurred in a private office, clinic, or hospital setting, nor have they released information about the length of the doctor-patient relationship. However, the nature of the charge indicates a potential breach of ethical and legal boundaries that govern the psychiatrist-patient dynamic — a relationship that is expected to be grounded in trust, confidentiality, and strict professional conduct.

    Next Steps

Dr. Lazaro Pomeraniec is expected to appear before a judge in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 10, at which time further details may be revealed during the court proceedings. If convicted, he could face significant legal consequences, including imprisonment, probation, mandatory registration as a sex offender, and the permanent loss of his medical license.

The Fairfield Police Department has emphasized its commitment to protecting victims of sexual misconduct and holding those who abuse positions of trust accountable.

For tips or concerns related to this case, contact the Fairfield Police Special Victims Unit at 203-254-4804.

  • Utah Mother Kouri Richins Faces New Wave of Criminal Charges in Ongoing Murder and Financial Fraud Case

Utah Mother Kouri Richins Faces New Wave of Criminal Charges in Ongoing Murder and Financial Fraud Case

Summit County, Utah — In a case that has drawn national attention for its deeply unsettling blend of tragedy, deception, and alleged criminal behavior, Kouri Richins, the Utah mother accused of poisoning her husband with a fentanyl-laced cocktail, is now facing a slew of new felony charges related to mortgage fraud, money laundering, forgery, and financial deception.

The latest charges come as investigators continue to uncover what prosecutors describe as a multi-year pattern of criminal activity that began well before her husband’s death and continued afterward — even as she authored and published a children’s book on grief, purportedly to help her children cope with the loss of their father, Eric Richins.

New Charges Filed Against Kouri Richins

According to court documents filed this week, Kouri Richins now faces a total of 26 additional felony charges, including:

    • 5 counts of Second-Degree Felony Mortgage Fraud
    • 7 counts of Second-Degree Felony Money Laundering
    • 1 count of Second-Degree Felony Communications Fraud
    • 1 count of Pattern of Unlawful Activity (Second-Degree Felony)
    • 5 counts of Third-Degree Felony Forgery
    • 7 counts of Third-Degree Felony Issuing a Bad Check

These charges are in addition to existing murder charges filed against Richins in 2023 after toxicology reports revealed that her husband died from a lethal dose of fentanyl, which investigators say was administered in a cocktail she prepared for him. Eric Richins was found dead in the couple’s bedroom on March 4, 2022.

A Marriage Marked by Business, Deception, and a Secret Estate Plan

Kouri and Eric Richins married in 2013, with Eric owning a successful stone masonry business at the time. The couple signed a prenuptial agreement stipulating that neither would claim ownership of any businesses the other established during the marriage — except in the event of death, in which case Kouri would inherit Eric’s business assets.

In 2019, Kouri launched a real estate business focused on house flipping. But prosecutors now allege that this was the beginning of a dark turn. According to the new criminal complaint, Kouri began illegally accessing and stealing funds from her husband’s business accounts in 2019, transferring money without his knowledge.

Eric reportedly discovered the financial misconduct in 2020, and, alarmed by the betrayal, sought to meet with an estate planning attorney to protect his assets. Documents suggest Eric intended to create a living trust that would have placed his sister in control of his estate upon his death — a plan Kouri was allegedly unaware of.

    Elaborate Financial Deception Uncovered

The financial crimes now alleged against Kouri Richins paint a picture of calculated and sustained deception. Court filings reveal that in July 2021, she began submitting falsified mortgage applications, using altered documents that included bank account information tied to Eric’s business. Between August and December 2021, she allegedly issued multiple bad checks and laundered money between personal and business accounts to mask the financial irregularities.

One of the most troubling allegations involves a close friend, who gave Kouri money for what they believed were down payments on real estate properties. Prosecutors say that instead of applying those funds appropriately, Richins used them to pay off unrelated debts, deceiving someone who had placed trust in her.

    Public Backlash and National Spotlight

The disturbing nature of the allegations — particularly the image of a grieving widow who authored a children’s book on loss after allegedly orchestrating her husband’s death — has captivated and horrified the public in equal measure.

Richins published “Are You With Me?” in 2023, describing it as a resource for children coping with grief. In interviews and promotional material, she appeared as a mother seeking healing and resilience for her family. That image has since crumbled under the weight of the charges now leveled against her.

    Legal Consequences Mount

The new charges add to the already serious legal battle Kouri Richins is facing, including a first-degree aggravated murder charge. If convicted of all charges, she could face decades in prison, including multiple mandatory minimums tied to second-degree felonies. Prosecutors have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges, as investigators continue to sift through records, financial transactions, and witness testimony.

The Summit County District Attorney’s Office has emphasized that the investigation remains active and that further evidence may emerge in both the homicide and fraud cases. Meanwhile, Kouri remains in custody, with court dates scheduled in the coming weeks.

Anyone with relevant information about Kouri Richins or her business dealings is urged to contact local law enforcement.
