Henry County Man Arrested for Criminal Homicide Following Joint Investigation

In a significant development following a multi-agency investigation, law enforcement officials have announced the arrest of a Henry County man in connection with the death of 36-year-old Kristiana Shook-Livingston. The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Mark Odom of 2810 Vale Road in Mansfield, Tennessee, was formally charged with criminal homicide on May 13, 2025.

Odom is currently being held at the Henry County Jail under a bond set at $2.5 million.

The investigation was a joint effort involving the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and the Murfreesboro Police Department. Their collaborative efforts began after the body of Mrs. Shook-Livingston was discovered earlier in the week off Copper Springs Road in Springville, Tennessee — a rural area just northeast of Paris, in Henry County.

Initial reports of a missing person quickly escalated into a criminal investigation when authorities recovered the deceased woman’s body under suspicious circumstances. Law enforcement officials were tight-lipped in the early stages of the case, but the swift progress in identifying and charging a suspect has been attributed in part to public cooperation.

Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey extended his gratitude to the community, acknowledging that tips and information from local residents played a crucial role in leading investigators to a resolution.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Kristiana Shook-Livingston,” said Sheriff Frey in a statement released to the press. “This has been a heartbreaking case, but thanks to the hard work of all agencies involved — and the assistance of the public — we were able to bring a suspect into custody swiftly. The collaborative nature of this investigation showcases the strength of interagency partnerships and community support in times of crisis.”

Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive or timeline of events leading to Mrs. Shook-Livingston’s death. The case remains active and ongoing, with investigators continuing to piece together evidence as they prepare for upcoming judicial proceedings.

The TBI, which often assists local agencies in complex or high-profile investigations, commended the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and local partners for their tireless efforts in the field. The 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is expected to lead the prosecution of the case.

No court date has yet been announced, but officials have confirmed that Mark Odom will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.

As the community continues to mourn the loss of Kristiana Shook-Livingston, authorities have reiterated their commitment to justice and the pursuit of truth in her memory. Residents are encouraged to come forward with any additional information that could assist the investigation by contacting the Henry County Sheriff’s Office directly.

  • Tragic Incident in Downtown Huntsville: A Juvenile Accidentally Fires Fatal Shot

Tragic Incident in Downtown Huntsville: A Juvenile Accidentally Fires Fatal Shot

Huntsville, Ala. – A tragic incident occurred on Monday in downtown Huntsville, where a young man lost his life after a firearm was accidentally discharged by a juvenile. The Huntsville Police Department has confirmed that the gun, which killed 24-year-old Christopher Hatcher of Huntsville, was fired by a juvenile who was handling it in a vehicle at the time of the incident.

The police responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, following reports of a shooting in a rear parking lot located near Jefferson Street. Officers arrived to find a red sedan parked in the lot, with Christopher Hatcher inside, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical responders were immediately dispatched, and Hatcher was transported to Huntsville Hospital. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save his life, Hatcher later succumbed to his injuries.

The police have indicated that their investigation suggests the shooting was accidental. Authorities believe the juvenile involved was handling the firearm when it discharged, leading to the fatal injury of Hatcher. At this point, it appears to have been a tragic accident, and as such, no charges will be filed in connection with the incident.

    Investigating the Events

While Huntsville Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, they have released details indicating that the shooting occurred in a car. The vehicle was found parked in a rear parking lot, a somewhat secluded area, which could have been a contributing factor in the way the situation unfolded. Authorities have not yet provided additional specifics about how the gun ended up in the juvenile’s possession or why it was being handled in the first place.

In the aftermath of such a devastating event, Huntsville residents have expressed their shock and sadness over the loss of Hatcher, whose life was tragically cut short. The community has rallied around the family, offering condolences and support during this incredibly difficult time.

    Impact on the Community

The shooting in downtown Huntsville, while deemed accidental, highlights the continued concerns surrounding gun safety, particularly in households and situations involving minors. It serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible gun ownership, including proper storage and supervision to prevent such tragic accidents from happening.

Huntsville, known for its growing tech industry, thriving economy, and tight-knit community, has experienced a wave of grief and concern following the incident. Local leaders and law enforcement have reaffirmed their commitment to addressing safety issues, especially in neighborhoods where younger residents may have access to firearms. While this particular case may not lead to criminal charges, it is bound to prompt further discussions about safety measures and the potential consequences of improperly handled firearms.

A Broader Conversation on Gun Safety

The involvement of a juvenile in the incident brings to the forefront broader concerns about gun safety practices. The National Safety Council (NSC) and other organizations have long emphasized the importance of educating children and adolescents about the dangers of firearms. Accidental shootings involving minors are a tragic reality in many communities across the United States, and efforts to promote safe handling and storage of guns are critical in preventing such incidents.

In addition to safety measures, there is also a conversation to be had about the accessibility of firearms. While the specifics of this case are still under investigation, discussions about how minors gain access to firearms, whether through parental negligence, lack of secure storage, or other means, have long been a focal point in communities grappling with gun violence and safety issues.

    Moving Forward

As Huntsville deals with the aftermath of this tragedy, it is clear that the event has left a lasting impact on the community. With no charges being filed, the family of Christopher Hatcher is left to grieve and process the loss of their loved one. The incident serves as a painful reminder of the potential dangers of firearms when they are not handled responsibly and safely, especially around minors.

While this case may not lead to legal consequences for the juvenile involved, it underscores the need for continued advocacy and awareness around the importance of gun safety, responsible ownership, and proper training for both adults and minors. In the wake of this tragic accident, Huntsville residents and local authorities will likely come together to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.

As the investigation continues, the Huntsville community mourns the loss of Christopher Hatcher, sending heartfelt condolences to his family during this heartbreaking time.

  • Chinese National Arrested in Ohio for Alleged $27,000 Apple ID Scam

Chinese National Arrested in Ohio for Alleged $27,000 Apple ID Scam

Licking County, Ohio – A 42-year-old Chinese national, Liwei Zhang, has been arrested and charged in connection with an elaborate scam that allegedly defrauded an Ohio resident out of $27,000. According to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, Zhang is facing a felony theft charge following a sting operation that led to his arrest.

Authorities say the victim was initially contacted by someone claiming that their Apple ID had been compromised. The caller, whose identity remains unknown and is believed to be part of a larger fraudulent network, convinced the victim that their financial assets were at risk. In a calculated scheme, the caller instructed the victim to “secure” their funds by physically handing them over to a supposed representative — who turned out to be Liwei Zhang.

Zhang allegedly arrived in person at the victim’s residence, where he collected $27,000 in cash. The victim, believing they were cooperating with a legitimate Apple security protocol, complied without resistance.

However, the situation escalated when, on May 12, the victim received another call from the same source. This time, the scammer requested an additional $20,000, citing continued threats to the victim’s digital and financial security.

Unbeknownst to the perpetrator, the Licking County Sheriff’s Office had already been alerted to the initial incident. Detectives coordinated with the victim and set up a controlled environment to catch the suspect in the act. When Zhang returned to the victim’s residence for the second cash pickup, a detective was waiting to intercept him.

Zhang was immediately arrested at the scene without incident and taken into custody. He is currently being held on felony theft charges and is expected to face additional scrutiny as investigators probe whether he acted alone or is part of a broader international scam operation targeting unsuspecting individuals through digital deception.

“This case is a stark reminder of how convincing and dangerous modern scams can be,” said a spokesperson from the Licking County Sheriff’s Office. “We urge residents to be extremely cautious when receiving unsolicited calls about compromised accounts, especially when they involve requests for money or personal information.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working with federal partners to determine if Zhang has any ties to organized criminal activity or if similar scams have occurred elsewhere in Ohio or across state lines.

Liwei Zhang is expected to appear in court later this week. Law enforcement continues to encourage anyone who may have been targeted by similar scams to report them immediately.

    Safety Tips for the Public:

    • Never give money to someone who contacts you out of the blue, especially regarding tech support or account security.
    • Verify directly with the company through official channels if you receive a suspicious call about your account.
    • Report suspicious behavior to local law enforcement or to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

As the case against Zhang develops, it serves as a cautionary tale in an increasingly digital world where scammers exploit fear and urgency to deceive their victims.

  • Tucson Police Seek Additional Victims in Ongoing Investigation of Physician Dr. Dung T. Nguyen

Tucson Police Seek Additional Victims in Ongoing Investigation of Physician Dr. Dung T. Nguyen

Detectives with the Tucson Police Department’s Adult Sexual Assault Unit are actively investigating allegations of sexual abuse and assault involving 65-year-old Dr. Dung T. Nguyen, a physician who has been practicing on the east side of Tucson. The investigation has already led to multiple serious charges, and authorities believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.

According to police reports, several individuals have come forward with disturbing accounts of inappropriate conduct by Dr. Nguyen during routine medical examinations. The complaints allege that the doctor engaged in behavior that was not only unethical but criminal, including inappropriate touching, fondling of patients’ breasts, and digital penetration of their genitalia. What makes these accusations particularly concerning is that these invasive acts reportedly took place during exams that were unrelated to the patients’ reproductive or intimate health.

The Tucson Police Department has confirmed that Dr. Nguyen has been formally indicted on multiple counts of sexual abuse and sexual assault. The charges reflect a pattern of behavior that has deeply affected those who have already come forward. Detectives are urging anyone who may have had a similar experience or possesses relevant information to immediately reach out to law enforcement.

“These are deeply troubling allegations,” said a spokesperson for the Tucson Police Department. “We are committed to fully investigating each report and ensuring that any victims receive the support and justice they deserve.”

Investigators are concerned that there could be additional victims who, for a variety of reasons—such as fear, shame, or uncertainty—have not yet reported their experiences. Victims of sexual abuse often face emotional and psychological barriers that prevent them from speaking out. Tucson police are encouraging potential victims to know they are not alone and that support services are available to guide them through the process.

If you or someone you know may have been victimized by Dr. Dung T. Nguyen, please contact the Tucson Police Department’s Adult Sexual Assault Unit at 520-589-8971 or call the anonymous tip line 88-CRIME. Authorities emphasize that all reports will be handled with the utmost care, confidentiality, and respect for the individuals involved.

Sexual abuse by a trusted medical professional is a violation of both the law and the sacred trust placed in the healthcare profession. As this investigation continues, the Tucson Police Department is determined to uncover the full scope of Dr. Nguyen’s actions and ensure accountability under the law.

The department is also working closely with victim advocacy groups to provide resources and support to those affected. Community awareness is critical in cases like this, and officials are asking the public to share this information to help reach anyone who may still be suffering in silence.

This investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

  • Homicide Investigation Underway in Iroquois County Following Fatal Shooting Incident

Homicide Investigation Underway in Iroquois County Following Fatal Shooting Incident

Iroquois County, Illinois — The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a tragic homicide that occurred on the outskirts of Iroquois, Illinois, involving a series of harrowing events that began with a suspiciously abandoned vehicle and ended with the death of a local woman.

According to the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department (ICSD), the situation began unfolding when a vehicle belonging to 38-year-old Nicholas Gregory was discovered left parked on a railroad crossing near 2150 North and 2750 East, in rural Iroquois County. Authorities report that Gregory left his vehicle there and proceeded to enter a nearby residence without permission. He later exited the home and stole the homeowner’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway.

While returning to the location of the abandoned vehicle on the railroad tracks, Gregory encountered another vehicle that had stopped in front of his truck, which was obstructing the crossing. Inside that vehicle was 57-year-old Angela Taylor.

According to statements from the ICSD, Gregory exited the stolen vehicle and approached Taylor’s car. Angela reportedly stepped out of her vehicle, apparently to see what was happening. It was at this moment that Gregory allegedly drew a firearm and shot her once. The bullet struck Angela, who was critically wounded at the scene.

Gregory then fled the scene in his original vehicle — the one that had initially been parked on the tracks. Emergency responders transported Angela Taylor to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the shooting.

Authorities say the violence did not stop there. After fleeing, Gregory made his way to a residence in Watseka, where he allegedly interacted with the occupant. The encounter quickly escalated when Gregory reportedly shouted threats, including stating that he intended to kill the resident, before speeding away from the location.

The escalating situation prompted a multijurisdictional response involving law enforcement from both Jasper County and Newton County Sheriff’s Departments. Following a coordinated pursuit, Nicholas Gregory was ultimately apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

He is currently being held and faces charges of First-Degree Murder, with further charges likely pending as the investigation continues.

The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office, along with supporting agencies, is working diligently to piece together the full timeline of events. They are urging anyone with additional information about Gregory’s actions or movements before or after the incident to come forward.

The Sheriff’s Department has also extended condolences to the family and friends of Angela Taylor, describing the incident as a “senseless and tragic act of violence.”

As the case develops, more details are expected to be released. Gregory remains in custody, and a court appearance is anticipated in the coming days.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

  • Hampton County, SC – Two Arrested in Violent Sprayfield Road Shooting in Estill

Hampton County, SC – Two Arrested in Violent Sprayfield Road Shooting in Estill

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office has taken decisive action in the aftermath of a brazen and violent shooting incident that occurred on Sprayfield Road in Estill, South Carolina, on Saturday, April 12, 2025. In a case that shook the community, multiple individuals were wounded by gunfire in a senseless act of violence that authorities say displayed a clear disregard for human life. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported, but the trauma and danger inflicted upon those involved — as well as the broader community — are deeply concerning.

Deputies from the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds, prompting an immediate emergency response. Multiple rounds had been fired, turning what should have been a quiet evening into a nightmare for residents in the area. Investigators quickly determined that the attack was not random and that the suspects acted with extreme recklessness and total indifference to the safety of others.

After an extensive investigation conducted by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office — with support from partnering law enforcement agencies — authorities were able to obtain arrest warrants and locate the suspects. Both individuals were apprehended without further incident.

    Arrested Individuals:

    • 🔹 Anthony Glen Warren, 31, of Lexington, SC
    • 🔹 Daniel Davis, Jr., 34, of West Columbia, SC

Both suspects now face a litany of serious felony charges, including:

    • (4 counts) Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature
    • (1 count) Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes – First Offense
    • (3 counts) Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
    • (1 count) Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling

Despite the gravity of these charges, both Warren and Davis were granted a $95,000 cash/surety bond and were subsequently released after posting bail — a development that has sparked concern among both law enforcement and members of the community.

    Sheriff Russell Issues a Statement

Sheriff Russell issued a strong and candid statement following the arrests:

“Once an arrest is made, the matter is turned over to the judicial system. Our responsibility is to thoroughly investigate and bring individuals to justice; it is then up to the courts to determine the outcome. Due to the nature and magnitude of this incident, we requested a no bond for the individuals involved. Unfortunately, a large number of crimes in our community are being committed by repeat offenders, which makes it even more critical and frustrating. It’s hard to notify a loved one’s relative about a loved one lost due to violence, but it’s even harder to tell them the suspected or alleged perpetrator is out on bond.”

His remarks underscore a growing concern among law enforcement leaders across the state: the release of violent offenders back into the community while awaiting trial. Sheriff Russell reiterated the department’s commitment to public safety and voiced his support for stronger policies that would keep repeat offenders off the streets.

    Community Reassurance and Ongoing Efforts

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the fear and disruption that incidents like this cause within the community. Violent crimes, especially those involving firearms, not only endanger lives but erode the sense of security that every resident deserves.

“We want the public to know that we take these acts of violence seriously and will not tolerate such reckless endangerment of innocent lives,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a public statement. “Our agency remains committed to proactive policing, strong investigative work, and fostering a community where residents feel safe, supported, and heard.”

This case — and the swift arrests that followed — stand as a testament to that commitment. While the judicial process now takes its course, law enforcement continues to work diligently to ensure justice is served, and that the streets of Hampton County remain safe for all.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with additional information related to the incident to come forward. The Sheriff’s Office assures the public that no lead will be ignored, and every piece of information could be vital in building a stronger case.

  • Crystal City Police Arrest Man for Animal Cruelty Following Disturbing Dog Abuse Case

Crystal City Police Arrest Man for Animal Cruelty Following Disturbing Dog Abuse Case

Crystal City Police have arrested a local man on multiple charges after responding to a disturbing report of animal abuse on Friday. The incident, which has since sparked outrage among residents and animal welfare advocates, involves a malnourished dog found with an open wound and clear signs of neglect.

According to police spokesperson Sgt. Angela Morales, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Maple Street following a tip from a concerned neighbor who reported hearing the distressing cries of a dog. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Figueroa, and a severely underweight dog tethered in the backyard under unsanitary and unsafe conditions.

“The dog appeared visibly malnourished and showed signs of long-term neglect,” Sgt. Morales said in a statement. “What was especially alarming was a fresh wound to its right ear that was actively bleeding at the time. It was clear that immediate veterinary attention was needed.”

Animal control officers were called to the scene and immediately transported the injured dog to a local veterinary clinic for emergency care. Preliminary assessments by the attending veterinarian confirmed that the animal had suffered from prolonged starvation and dehydration, along with physical trauma likely caused by blunt force or aggressive mishandling.

Jonathan Figueroa was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with cruelty to a non-livestock animal, a criminal offense under Texas state law. Additional charges may follow pending the results of a broader investigation into the condition of the property and any possible prior reports of abuse.

Neighbors say this is not the first time they suspected something was wrong. “We’ve heard that poor dog crying for weeks,” said one resident who asked to remain anonymous. “It’s heartbreaking. I’m just glad someone finally did something.”

Crystal City Police Chief Raul Martinez praised the citizen who made the report, noting that community involvement is often the key to rescuing animals from dangerous situations. “This arrest is the result of one person choosing not to look away. We urge the public to report any suspicions of abuse — whether it involves people or animals. We take these cases very seriously.”

Animal rights organizations, including the local chapter of the Humane Society, have also expressed gratitude to the police department for their swift response and called for stronger penalties for repeat offenders.

As of Saturday, the rescued dog — a young mixed breed — remains under veterinary supervision but is expected to recover with proper treatment and care. The animal will be placed in a foster home while the legal process unfolds.

Figueroa remains in custody at the Zavala County Jail, with bail set at $10,000. His first court appearance is scheduled for later this month.

The Crystal City Police Department urges anyone with additional information regarding the case or knowledge of other animals potentially in danger to contact their tip line at (830) 374-2323.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and compassion when it comes to protecting those who cannot speak for themselves.
