Kenner Felon on Parole Arrested in Webster Street Shooting That Left 24-Year-Old Injured; Police Say Suspect Tried to Shoot Victim After Requesting His Gun

A convicted felon on parole has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Webster Street in Kenner, Louisiana, injuring a 24-year-old man. The Kenner Police Department (KPD) has identified the suspect as 25-year-old Craig Elliott.

According to KPD, the incident began when Elliott allegedly asked to see the victim’s firearm. Upon receiving the weapon, Elliott reportedly attempted to shoot the victim at close range. A struggle ensued, during which multiple shots were fired, resulting in the victim being struck. Following the shooting, Elliott is said to have encouraged others in the vehicle to attack the victim before fleeing the scene.

  • It Is with Deep Sorrow That We Announce the Passing of Mick Fitzpatrick: A Titan of Irish Rugby

It Is with Deep Sorrow That We Announce the Passing of Mick Fitzpatrick: A Titan of Irish Rugby

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mick Fitzpatrick, a beloved figure in the world of Irish rugby, who died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on November 25, 1950, in Dublin, Ireland, Fitzpatrick’s life was defined by passion, perseverance, and a lifelong commitment to the game that shaped not only his destiny but also the legacy of Irish sport.

Mick Fitzpatrick was more than just a rugby player—he was a symbol of resilience, leadership, and pride for generations of fans and athletes alike. His journey began in the streets of Dublin, where as a young boy he first picked up a rugby ball and fell in love with the game that would come to define his life. His raw talent and indomitable spirit quickly caught the attention of scouts, and by his early twenties, Fitzpatrick had cemented his place among Ireland’s elite rugby athletes.

A Storied Career on the Field

Fitzpatrick’s playing career was illustrious, characterized by unmatched dedication, tactical brilliance, and an unwavering team-first mentality. Representing both Leinster and the Irish national team, he was known for his fierce competitiveness and intelligence on the pitch. Playing primarily as a flanker, Fitzpatrick was the kind of player who elevated everyone around him—fierce in defense, fearless at the breakdown, and visionary in open play.

He earned 42 international caps for Ireland between 1972 and 1982, captaining the side on multiple occasions and playing a pivotal role in some of the most memorable matches of the decade. Whether facing the All Blacks in a wet Lansdowne Road showdown or squaring up against England in a fiercely contested Five Nations clash, Fitzpatrick’s presence was always a source of inspiration and stability.

    A Mentor, Leader, and Advocate

Following his retirement from professional play, Fitzpatrick seamlessly transitioned into coaching and mentorship, where his tactical knowledge and empathetic leadership continued to influence the sport. He coached several provincial teams and served as an advisor to the national squad during the 1990s, earning admiration for his ability to develop young talent and instill values of discipline and unity.

His advocacy for player welfare, grassroots rugby development, and inclusion in sport earned him recognition well beyond the pitch. He served on various boards and rugby committees, always pushing for reforms that would ensure the sport remained true to its spirit while evolving with the times.

    A Legacy Beyond Rugby

Beyond his contributions to rugby, Mick Fitzpatrick was deeply involved in community work. Known for his humility, warmth, and generosity, he supported numerous youth programs and local charities in Dublin and beyond. He believed that sport was not merely about competition but about building character, community, and lifelong bonds.

He was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. To his family, Mick was a rock—loving, steady, and full of wisdom. To his teammates, he was a brother-in-arms. To the fans, he was a legend. And to Irish rugby, he was a cornerstone of its golden legacy.

    In Remembrance

Mick Fitzpatrick’s passing marks the end of an era, but his spirit will live on in every young player chasing a ball on the fields of Dublin, every coach who believes in second chances, and every fan who understands the poetry of rugby.

He leaves behind a loving family, a nation of admirers, and a game forever changed by his touch.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days. The Fitzpatrick family has requested privacy during this time of mourning and extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from across the rugby world.

Rest in peace, Mick. Your legacy will echo through the stands and hearts of Ireland for generations to come.

  • Two Summerville Adults Face Charges after Illegally Stopping Berkeley Co. School Bus to Confront Students

Two Summerville Adults Face Charges after Illegally Stopping Berkeley Co. School Bus to Confront Students

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis announced the arrest of one individual and the issuance of warrants for another following a dangerous incident involving a school bus on the morning of May 5. The incident occurred near the Waters at St. James apartment complex, where a Berkeley County School District bus en route to Devon Forest Elementary School was unlawfully stopped and boarded by two adults from Summerville.

Jakevah Rahsha Brown, 28, was taken into custody on May 7 and is charged with Kidnapping and Interference with the Operation of a School Bus. A second suspect, Ronald Olivier, Jr., 31, is currently wanted by authorities. Olivier faces charges of Kidnapping, Interference with the Operation of a School Bus, and Assault and Battery in the Third Degree.

The confrontation began when a vehicle intentionally blocked the school bus on Baxter Brown Way, forcing it to stop. Witnesses and bus surveillance footage confirm that Brown and Olivier exited the vehicle and approached the bus. Despite clear verbal instructions from the bus driver and bus monitor not to enter, both individuals boarded the bus without authorization.

Brown reportedly initiated a verbal altercation with a group of elementary school students, confronting them over an alleged incident involving her child. Olivier followed, using threatening and aggressive language toward the children. The confrontation caused significant distress among the young students, many of whom were visibly shaken during and after the incident.

The bus driver and monitor acted swiftly to de-escalate the situation and ensure student safety, but the actions of Brown and Olivier created a dangerous and disruptive environment, temporarily halting the scheduled route and violating state laws designed to protect students during transportation.

“This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” said Sheriff Duane Lewis. “Our children and school staff deserve to feel safe and protected while traveling to and from school. Individuals who choose to put their safety at risk will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is actively working to locate Ronald Olivier, Jr. and urges the public to assist in his apprehension. Anyone with information on Olivier’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 719-4505 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.

This incident highlights the critical need for continued vigilance and support for law enforcement and school staff who work daily to protect children across the county.
