DELTONA, FL — The Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) has issued an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Thomas A. Calderon in connection with a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2025, in Deltona. Calderon is now wanted for attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and is considered armed and dangerous.

According to VSO officials, deputies were notified around 3:11 a.m. when a 29-year-old male victim arrived at an Orange City hospital, driven there by his girlfriend, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators quickly determined that the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument between Calderon and the victim. The altercation reportedly escalated when Calderon confronted the victim over the way he had allegedly been treating his girlfriend. During the dispute, Calderon pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the stomach.

Search Conducted at Calderon’s Residence

Deputies responded to the scene of the incident at 1500 Flagami Terrace in Deltona, where Calderon resides. A search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence in an effort to collect evidence and locate the suspect. However, Calderon had already fled the scene.

Authorities believe Calderon has ties to the Sanford and Seminole County areas, and they are actively working with surrounding jurisdictions to track down his whereabouts.

The Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue – Big Sky Section, along with Gallatin County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Big Sky Fire Department, responded quickly to the scene, where bystanders were already performing CPR on 66-year-old Mark Hammons of Kentucky.

The incident occurred roughly half a mile from the trailhead, and numerous trail-goers sprang into action to assist. Some helped guide first responders to the location, while others aided in providing CPR and supporting Hammons’ family in the critical moments before professional medical teams arrived.

Once on scene, responders continued lifesaving efforts and transported Mr. Hammons to the trailhead where an ambulance was waiting. Despite all efforts, Mark Hammons was pronounced dead at the scene.

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC — A devastating tragedy unfolded in the early morning hours of July 1, 2025, when Deputy Devin Mason, 27, of the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, was shot and killed in the line of duty. OWENSBORO, Ky. — Updated July 1: The Daviess County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a Sunday night shooting on Hughes Avenue as 30-year-old Joshua Hardison, a resident of Owensboro. Authorities say Hardison’s body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office in Louisville for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

The other victim in the incident, 52-year-old Kelly Anderson, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and is currently recovering. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and she remains under medical care at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

The shooting took place just before midnight on Sunday, June 30, in the 1800 block of Hughes Avenue. According to the Owensboro Police Department (OPD), officers responded to multiple reports of a disturbance and gunfire at an apartment complex in the area. Upon arrival, officers located both victims inside the residence.

According to police, Kelly Anderson was found in the living room, wounded but conscious. She was quickly transported to the hospital. Meanwhile, Joshua Hardison was discovered in a bedroom, also suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
