  • Hopedale Police Arrest Man Following Explosion on Mill Street; 91 Class M Explosives, Destructive Devices Found in Home

Hopedale Police Arrest Man Following Explosion on Mill Street; 91 Class M Explosives, Destructive Devices Found in Home

HOPEDALE, MA — A Hopedale man was arrested Tuesday evening following a dramatic incident that began with a reported explosion on Mill Street and culminated in the discovery of dozens of explosive devices inside a residential home. Authorities say the blast, which startled neighbors and prompted a large-scale emergency response, led them to 32-year-old James Dec, who is now facing a slew of serious charges.

According to the Hopedale Police Department (HPD), officers responded to Mill Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday after multiple 911 calls reported a loud explosion that shook nearby homes. Upon arrival, officers quickly identified the source of the blast and began investigating the area, ultimately leading them to a residence believed to be connected to the explosion.

As police attempted to make contact with the suspect, identified as James Dec, he allegedly resisted arrest. Officers were eventually able to subdue and take Dec into custody without serious injury. He has since been charged with Possession of an Explosive Device, Resisting Arrest, and other potential charges as the investigation continues.

The situation escalated further when law enforcement secured a search warrant for Dec’s residence. What they uncovered inside the home has prompted concern and drawn the attention of state and federal authorities.

In a press release issued Wednesday morning, HPD said the search of the property revealed a staggering cache of explosive materials, including:

    • 91 Class M explosives — a category that includes powerful fireworks and homemade devices that can cause significant damage
    • Five destructive devices, which may include items such as pipe bombs or similar improvised weapons
    • Additional hazardous materials and components used in the construction of explosive devices

Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the explosion was accidental or deliberate, nor have they revealed any motive behind Dec’s alleged possession of such a large amount of explosive material. There have been no reports of injuries as a result of the blast, though some nearby homes sustained minor structural damage, according to early reports.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and other agencies are now assisting in the ongoing investigation. Officials say the materials found could pose a significant public safety risk, and efforts are underway to safely remove and neutralize the explosives.

Residents in the area were briefly evacuated as a precaution Tuesday night, but have since been allowed to return to their homes. The neighborhood remains under heightened police presence as authorities continue to assess the scene and gather evidence.

James Dec is currently being held pending arraignment at a local district court. Additional charges could be filed based on the outcome of forensic analysis and evidence recovered from the residence.

Hopedale Police Chief David A. Frazier issued a statement Wednesday morning, thanking local residents for their cooperation and patience during the incident. “This was a dangerous situation that could have resulted in significant harm,” Chief Frazier said. “Thanks to the quick action and coordination of our officers and partner agencies, we were able to prevent further danger to the community and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”

Anyone with additional information about the case is urged to contact the Hopedale Police Department.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is now turning to the public for help in locating the individuals responsible, as the investigation continues to unfold.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to an urgent 911 call placed by a female resident living on Ginger Lane in Mooresville. The caller, who has not been publicly identified for her safety, reported a terrifying incident in which a man forcibly entered her home. The man was later identified by authorities as Joshua Andrew Moore.

According to the victim’s statement, Moore broke down the door and launched a physical attack on her. Acting in self-defense, she managed to grab a kitchen knife during the struggle and inflicted multiple stab wounds on her assailant. Despite his injuries, Moore fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Shortly after the home invasion, authorities located Moore at a separate location. He had sustained several stab wounds to his upper torso and was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital. Although doctors confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening, Moore unexpectedly left the facility before receiving full treatment or being taken into custody.

  • Father Charged in Accidental Shooting Death of 11-Year-Old Son in St. Louis County

Father Charged in Accidental Shooting Death of 11-Year-Old Son in St. Louis County

A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked a St. Louis County community following the accidental shooting death of 11-year-old Marshaun Futrell Jr., a promising young football star whose life was cut short due to a preventable and devastating incident. The boy’s father, Marshaun Futrell Sr., is now facing criminal charges in connection with the fatal shooting, as investigators reveal deeply troubling details about the conditions inside the family’s home.

On Monday night, what should have been an ordinary evening turned into a nightmare. According to police reports, Marshaun Jr. and a group of friends were playing at the Futrell home when they discovered a backpack containing two loaded firearms. The children, unaware of the true danger they were in, began playing with the weapons. Tragically, one of the guns discharged, fatally striking Marshaun Jr. in what authorities are calling an accidental shooting.

Despite the accidental nature of the gunfire, the investigation quickly uncovered a disturbing reality: Marshaun Futrell Sr. had a total of 12 firearms in the home, many of which were left in the open, unsecured, and loaded. Investigators said that several of these weapons were easily accessible to anyone in the household — including children. The absence of any safety precautions, such as locked gun safes or trigger locks, significantly contributed to the ease with which the young boys were able to handle the deadly weapons.

In response to the findings, St. Louis County prosecutors have charged Futrell Sr. with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken into custody and is currently being held behind bars on a $100,000 cash-only bond. The charges reflect not only the fatal consequences of his alleged negligence but also the broader risk posed to other children who were present at the time of the shooting.

“This is a gut-wrenching reminder of what can happen when firearms are not properly secured,” said a spokesperson from the St. Louis County Police Department. “This young boy’s life was full of promise — he was loved by his community and teammates. His death is a tragic, preventable loss that has left a family and a community shattered.”

Marshaun Jr. was known throughout his neighborhood and among local youth sports circles as a standout athlete with dreams of playing professional football one day. Coaches and teammates remembered him as hardworking, respectful, and full of potential. A candlelight vigil was held in his memory, with friends and family gathering to mourn the loss and call for greater gun safety awareness.

Community leaders have since voiced outrage and sorrow, calling for increased education on firearm safety and responsible gun ownership, especially in homes where children are present. Gun violence remains a persistent issue in Missouri and across the country, with accidental shootings among minors on the rise due to easy access to unsecured weapons.

Legal experts suggest that while Futrell Sr. did not intend harm, the law does not excuse gross negligence, especially when it endangers children’s lives. If convicted, he could face years in prison — a consequence meant to send a strong message to all gun owners about the critical importance of securing firearms.

As the legal process unfolds, one fact remains unchangeable: an 11-year-old boy is gone, his future erased in a moment that could have been avoided with proper responsibility and care. The community continues to grieve, while advocates push for change to ensure that no more children fall victim to such a preventable tragedy.

  • Fire Report: Incident at Walmart Neighborhood Market on S. Buckner Blvd, Pleasant Grove

Fire Report: Incident at Walmart Neighborhood Market on S. Buckner Blvd, Pleasant Grove

    Pleasant Grove, TX – May 7, 2025

Local authorities and fire services have responded to a developing emergency at the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 2827 S. Buckner Blvd, in the heart of Pleasant Grove. According to preliminary reports received shortly before noon, a fire broke out inside the store, with early indications suggesting that it was deliberately set in the paper goods aisle — a section that typically contains highly flammable items such as toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins.

Eyewitnesses describe a scene of panic and confusion as smoke quickly filled parts of the store. Shoppers and employees were evacuated as smoke alarms blared throughout the building. Some customers captured video of the thick smoke billowing from the aisle, and several described seeing a “flash” or hearing a loud crackle moments before the fire began spreading.

“We were just shopping like normal, and suddenly people started yelling and running,” said Monica Alvarez, a customer who was near the frozen foods section when the alarms went off. “At first I thought it was just someone playing around — then I saw the smoke, and I knew it was serious.”

Emergency responders arrived within minutes, and the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department quickly moved to contain the blaze. As of the time of this report, the fire has been extinguished, and firefighters are ventilating the building to clear out lingering smoke and toxic fumes. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far, but paramedics are on the scene as a precaution, attending to several people who experienced lightheadedness and smoke inhalation symptoms.

In a statement released shortly after 1:00 p.m., Walmart officials confirmed the store was evacuated safely and that all staff members were accounted for. The company is cooperating fully with local law enforcement, who have already begun investigating the incident as a potential case of arson.

“It is deeply troubling to learn that someone may have intentionally started this fire,” said Lt. Cassandra Hall of the Dallas Police Department. “We are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses to identify any suspects involved.”

While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, early photos from inside the store show charred shelving, collapsed ceiling tiles, and extensive water damage from the fire suppression system. The paper goods aisle, where the fire is believed to have originated, appears to be the most heavily affected area.

Local residents are expressing concern, as this Walmart is a vital part of the Pleasant Grove community, providing affordable groceries and essential items to many families in the area. It remains unclear how long the store will be closed for repairs and cleanup.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the person(s) responsible to contact the Dallas Fire Marshal’s Office or the Dallas Police Department. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

This is a developing story, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

  • Buffalo Mother Seeks Justice After Daughter Assaulted in Road Rage Incident

Buffalo Mother Seeks Justice After Daughter Assaulted in Road Rage Incident

A mother in Buffalo, New York, is demanding justice after a deeply disturbing road rage incident that left her young daughter traumatized and a community in shock. The early morning encounter, which occurred around 6:59 AM as the mother was taking her children to school, quickly escalated into violence and hate, revealing an ugly undercurrent of racism and aggression that has sparked outrage online and in the local community.

The victim’s mother, Adreana Jemison, took to social media shortly after the incident to share the traumatic ordeal. According to Jemison, she was driving her children to school when a man—later identified as Justin Goodrich—became aggressive on the road. It remains unclear what triggered the confrontation, but what followed was nothing short of horrifying.

As tensions rose, Goodrich allegedly approached Jemison’s vehicle, reached through the car window, and physically assaulted her daughter. The child, terrified and defenseless, was reportedly struck as the man hurled racial slurs at the family. Witnesses and local residents have expressed horror over the idea that such a brazen and hateful act could happen in broad daylight, during a routine school commute.

“My children are supposed to feel safe with me, especially on the way to school,” Jemison said in her emotional post. “No child should ever have to experience this kind of hate, and no parent should ever have to defend their child from a grown man in the middle of a public street.”

The post quickly went viral, with community members rallying around the Jemison family and calling for swift action from law enforcement. Many have expressed concern over the safety of children in the area and the broader issue of racially motivated violence in Buffalo and across the country.

Local authorities have confirmed that they are investigating the incident. While Justin Goodrich has been identified as the alleged assailant, it remains to be seen what charges, if any, will be formally filed. The Buffalo Police Department has not released a public statement detailing the nature of the investigation, citing the ongoing process.

Civil rights advocates and community leaders have joined Jemison in demanding accountability. They emphasize that incidents involving road rage, especially those tinged with racial hostility and violence, must be taken seriously by law enforcement and the legal system.

“This is not just a traffic dispute gone wrong,” said one local activist. “This is about a Black child being physically assaulted and verbally attacked with racial slurs by an adult white man in public. That is a hate crime, and it should be treated as such.”

Jemison has since received an outpouring of support from friends, family, and strangers. Supporters are organizing rallies, calling on city officials to take action, and urging the public to help spread awareness of the incident. Many are using the hashtag #JusticeForAdreanasDaughter to show solidarity and to pressure authorities for transparency and justice.

For Jemison and her family, the emotional scars may take time to heal. “I’m just trying to be strong for my babies,” she wrote. “But no mother should have to go through this.”

As the investigation continues, the Buffalo community watches closely, hoping that justice will be served—and that this incident sparks deeper conversations about road rage, racial violence, and the safety of children in public spaces.
