In Loving Memory of Trivez L. Washington
Sunrise: [Date of Birth] – Sunset: April 22, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Trivez L. Washington, who departed this life on April 22, 2025. He was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend — a man whose presence filled every room with warmth, and whose absence leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Trivez was more than just a name; he was a force of joy, a beacon of compassion, and a living testament to the power of love, laughter, and light. Born with a smile that could brighten the darkest day, Trivez spent his life spreading that light to everyone he encountered. Whether you knew him for a moment or a lifetime, you were better for it.

His laughter was infectious — the kind that made others laugh even when they didn’t know what was funny. It was a sound of pure, unfiltered joy, often filling family gatherings, friendly get-togethers, and quiet moments with undeniable life. Trivez knew how to find joy in the simple things: a well-told joke, a good song on the radio, a home-cooked meal, or a quiet evening with those he loved. He taught us that happiness doesn’t have to be sought — it can be shared.

But what truly defined Trivez was his heart — wide open and always ready to welcome others in. He gave selflessly, loved deeply, and never hesitated to lend a hand, a shoulder, or a listening ear. He was the kind of man who remembered birthdays, showed up when it mattered, and made people feel seen and valued. His kindness was effortless, his empathy genuine, and his loyalty unwavering.

As a father, Trivez was gentle, protective, and endlessly proud. He saw fatherhood not as a responsibility but as a joy, embracing every moment with love and intention. His children were the center of his world, and he made sure they knew it every single day.

As a brother and son, he stood as a pillar of strength and love. The family bond was sacred to him — a circle of unconditional support that he nurtured, respected, and celebrated. To his siblings, he was a confidant, a role model, and sometimes, a partner in crime during youthful adventures. To his parents, he was a blessing beyond words — a source of pride and a reflection of their best qualities.

As a friend, Trivez was the one everyone could count on. He had the rare gift of making you feel like you were the most important person in the world, even if just for a moment. His friendships were built on laughter, loyalty, and late-night conversations that turned into lifelong memories. He didn’t just make friends — he made family.

Though he has left this world too soon, the legacy Trivez leaves behind is immeasurable. He touched countless lives in ways that will continue to echo for generations. In every act of kindness, every hearty laugh, every moment of unexpected joy — we will remember him. His spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the memories we cherish, and the love he so freely gave.

We celebrate Trivez not for the finality of his passing, but for the beauty of his life. Though we mourn his loss, we give thanks for the gift of his time with us. We carry him in our hearts, where his love will always reside — steady, strong, and everlasting.

Rest in power, Trivez L. Washington. Your light will never fade.

In Loving Memory of Caden Byers
    October 12, 2003 – April 18, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we remember and celebrate the life of Caden Byers, who departed this life far too soon on April 18, 2025, at the tender age of 21. Though Caden’s time on earth was brief, the love, laughter, and light they brought into the lives of others will resonate forever.

Caden was a bright soul, a gentle force of warmth and authenticity in a world that often moves too fast to recognize such quiet brilliance. Their presence was more than comforting—it was healing. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a quiet moment of shared understanding, Caden had a way of making others feel truly seen and valued. They carried themselves with a calm wisdom and an intuitive grace far beyond their years, touching hearts in ways they may never have fully realized.

From an early age, it was clear that Caden possessed a rare depth of character. They were compassionate without reservation, honest without judgment, and strong without boasting. Friends and family often remarked on their ability to listen without interruption, to speak with intention, and to love without condition. In a world filled with noise, Caden was a quiet symphony of goodness—always attuned to the feelings of those around them.

To know Caden was to experience moments of lightness and joy. They had a wicked sense of humor, often catching others off guard with their clever wit and perfectly timed observations. Laughter followed them like a shadow, not loud or boisterous, but sincere and infectious. Caden had the gift of turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.

Beyond their personality, Caden was deeply thoughtful, creative, and introspective. Whether they were expressing themselves through music, writing, art, or simply through meaningful conversation, they had an extraordinary way of bringing beauty to the world. They were the kind of person who found poetry in the mundane, who saw potential where others saw limitations, and who believed in the goodness of people even when life made it difficult to do so.

Those closest to Caden often describe them as a steady presence—a quiet strength in times of chaos, someone who could hold space for others without asking for anything in return. This unwavering supportiveness made them a cherished friend, a beloved family member, and a trusted confidant. It is this inner strength, paired with their remarkable humility, that made Caden truly unforgettable.

Their departure leaves a silence that words cannot fill, a void that echoes in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to have known them. Yet even in grief, we find comfort in the countless memories that Caden left behind—memories that remind us to live with kindness, to speak with honesty, and to walk gently through this world with love.

Though Caden’s life was far too short, their legacy is eternal. It lives on in every act of kindness inspired by their memory, in every laugh shared among friends who once laughed with them, and in every quiet moment of reflection that brings a sense of peace. They taught us that impact isn’t measured in years, but in the depth of love we give and the grace with which we live.

Caden Byers was—and always will be—a shining light. In remembering them, we commit ourselves to living more fully, loving more freely, and holding each other a little closer. Their story does not end with their passing; it continues in each life they touched, and in every soul they helped heal.

Rest gently, dear Caden. You are missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.

MILTON, VERMONT (April 23, 2025) – What began as a routine emergency response to a reported structure fire in the heart of Milton took a violent and shocking turn Wednesday evening, leaving a police officer wounded and the quiet community reeling from a sudden escalation of violence.

MILTON, VERMONT (April 23, 2025) – What began as a routine emergency response to a reported structure fire in the heart of Milton took a violent and shocking turn Wednesday evening, leaving a police officer wounded and the quiet community reeling from a sudden escalation of violence.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Milton emergency services received a call reporting a potential house fire in a residential neighborhood near Main Street. Firefighters, EMTs, and police officers responded swiftly to the scene, expecting to assist in a standard fire suppression and potential evacuation operation. However, the situation rapidly deteriorated into a dangerous confrontation.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders were met not with smoke and flames, but with gunfire. According to preliminary reports from Milton Police Chief Emily Gardner, an unidentified individual inside the home opened fire on the approaching officers without warning. One officer, a 12-year veteran of the force, was struck and sustained serious injuries. He was transported under escort to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he is currently listed in stable but critical condition.

“This was a deliberate and calculated ambush,” Chief Gardner stated during a late-night press briefing. “Our officers and first responders were targeted while performing their duties. This is a stark reminder of the risks these brave men and women face every day.”

The shooter then barricaded themselves inside the residence, prompting an immediate lockdown of the surrounding area. SWAT teams and crisis negotiators were deployed to the scene as law enforcement established a secure perimeter and evacuated nearby homes. Residents were urged to shelter in place and avoid the area as negotiations and tactical operations unfolded over the next several hours.

By 11:30 p.m., authorities reported that the suspect remained inside the home and was believed to be armed and potentially dangerous. A motive for the attack remains unclear, and it is not known whether the initial fire report was a ruse to lure emergency personnel to the location.

Governor Sarah Chandler issued a statement late Wednesday, expressing solidarity with the injured officer and first responders involved. “This was a senseless act of violence against those who put their lives on the line for our safety. My thoughts are with the officer, his family, and the entire Milton community tonight. We will ensure that justice is served.”

Local schools announced they will remain closed on Thursday as a precautionary measure, and counseling services are being offered to residents affected by the traumatic events.

This incident has shocked the close-knit town of Milton, known for its peaceful neighborhoods and strong community ties. As the investigation continues, state and federal agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are assisting local law enforcement in gathering evidence and analyzing the scene.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the Milton Police Department tip line. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.

Spartanburg County, SC — A Community Mourns the Loss of Three Dorman High Students in Tragic Crash

A deep and unshakable sorrow hangs over Spartanburg County this week, as a tight-knit community reels from the tragic loss of three young lives. Aben Sisk, Itzel Garcia-Trejo, and Daniel Diaz, all students at Dorman High School, were killed in a devastating multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer. The accident occurred Tuesday and has since sent ripples of grief through the hallways of their school and far beyond.

The scene unfolded on a stretch of road familiar to many locals—now marked by a haunting stillness and makeshift memorials of flowers, candles, and handwritten notes. Emergency crews responded swiftly, but the magnitude of the collision left little hope. The sudden and violent nature of the crash has left many asking questions, struggling to comprehend how three vibrant young souls, full of promise and potential, could be taken so soon.

Aben, Itzel, and Daniel: Remembering Lives Full of Light

To those who knew them, Aben, Itzel, and Daniel were more than just names. They were athletes, scholars, artists, and friends. They were young people with dreams stretching far beyond Spartanburg County—each with their own unique ambitions and passions.

Aben Sisk was known for his kindness, quick wit, and natural leadership. Whether he was on the soccer field or helping fellow students with their studies, he carried himself with a quiet confidence and maturity beyond his years.

Itzel Garcia-Trejo, full of creativity and compassion, had an infectious smile and a heart that radiated warmth. Her involvement in community projects and extracurriculars showcased her love for people and her drive to make the world a better place.

Daniel Diaz was a spark of energy wherever he went. With a talent for music and a mind full of ideas, he brought joy and inspiration to his peers. Teachers often spoke of his curiosity and eagerness to learn—qualities that promised a bright future.

    Dorman High School in Mourning

The news of the crash shattered the usual rhythm of life at Dorman High School. By Wednesday morning, the school had become a gathering place not just for students, but for grieving families, faculty members, and community members seeking comfort.

Counseling services were made immediately available, and the school district issued a heartfelt statement offering condolences and support. Vigils have been held on school grounds, where hundreds of students and staff have come together to share memories, light candles, and hold one another in silence and tears.

The loss has united the school community in mourning, with classmates expressing their heartbreak through social media tributes, artwork, poems, and music. Teachers, too, have spoken out, calling the trio “irreplaceable” and “exceptional.”

    A Community United in Grief

Outside of Dorman High, the broader Spartanburg community has also felt the impact. Churches, local organizations, and residents from surrounding towns have offered support in various forms—meals for grieving families, fundraisers, and moments of silence at public events.

In a county that prides itself on strength and unity, this tragedy has reminded many of the fragility of life and the importance of community in times of darkness. Messages of love and resilience have poured in from across South Carolina and beyond, reinforcing the idea that while the lives of Aben, Itzel, and Daniel were tragically short, their legacies will endure.

An Ongoing Investigation and a Call for Safety

As the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash, many are reflecting on the broader implications. Some community members and parents are calling for stricter regulations and increased awareness regarding truck traffic and student driving safety.

Officials have yet to release a full report, but what remains clear is that this tragedy has sparked an important conversation—one about roadway safety, teen driving, and the responsibility of ensuring that no more lives are lost in preventable accidents.

    Moving Forward With Heavy Hearts

There is no easy way to make sense of a loss this profound. The halls of Dorman High School will echo a little quieter in the coming weeks. The empty seats in classrooms will be silent reminders of three extraordinary lives cut short. But amid the sorrow, there is a palpable strength—one that comes from the very fabric of this community.

In time, the people of Spartanburg County will find ways to heal. They will remember Aben, Itzel, and Daniel not just with sorrow, but with celebration of the joy they brought into the world. Scholarships may be established in their names. Community projects might be started in their honor. And their classmates, forever changed, will carry forward their memories as a testament to friendship, youth, and the fragility of life.

For now, though, the Upstate grieves. And in the stillness of that grief, three names are etched forever into the heart of Spartanburg County.

In loving memory of Aben Sisk, Itzel Garcia-Trejo, and Daniel Diaz.

Incident Unfolds at 78 Main Street: Fire Response Turns Into Active Shooter Situation

What began as a routine emergency response to a fire quickly spiraled into a dangerous and chaotic scene on Tuesday at 78 Main Street, after shots rang out from inside the burning residence. Firefighters had just arrived to combat the blaze when someone inside the home began shooting without warning, catching first responders and the surrounding neighborhood off guard.

At the time of the shooting, police and emergency medical personnel were already on site to support the firefighting efforts. As flames and smoke billowed from the property, the sound of gunfire suddenly erupted, adding another layer of urgency and danger to an already volatile situation. In the immediate moments of confusion and fear, one police officer was struck by gunfire.

Authorities quickly responded to the emerging threat by locking down the area and calling in tactical support. SWAT and other specialized response units swiftly moved in, surrounding the home and initiating crisis protocols to manage what had escalated into an active shooter standoff. The suspect reportedly barricaded themselves inside the residence, refusing to come out or communicate with law enforcement.

As of the latest reports, tactical teams remain on the scene and are working diligently to resolve the situation with the utmost caution and concern for public safety. Nearby streets have been closed off, and residents in the vicinity were urged to stay inside and away from windows while the standoff continues.

Details regarding the injured officer’s condition have not yet been released. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the officer is receiving medical care, and the department is withholding additional information until the officer’s family can be fully briefed and more is known about their status.

This shocking and senseless act of violence has left a community shaken and emergency responders reeling. A routine call to serve and protect turned into a nightmare for all involved, underscoring once again the unpredictable and dangerous situations faced daily by our first responders.

Our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the injured officer and their loved ones. The community stands united in support of the police, firefighters, and medical personnel who risk their lives to keep us safe—especially during moments of crisis such as this. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to the standoff, and above all, a full recovery for the brave officer injured in the line of duty.

Updates on the situation will be provided as they become available. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area and to follow all instructions from law enforcement.
