According to the Louisiana State Police, the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Behrman Highway (LA 428) near Nile Street. Kevin was part of a group of children attempting to cross the highway outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. ​

Kevin was known for his joyful spirit and the happiness he brought to those around him. His untimely passing has left his family, friends, and the Terrytown community heartbroken.​

​It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kyle Joseph Boyer, who departed this life on April 18, 2025, at the age of 28. Born on October 17, 1996, in Detroit, Michigan, Kyle was a cherished resident of Harper Woods, known for his kindness, vibrant spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him.​

Kyle was the devoted son of Bryan and Judith Boyer (née Pelkey). He was preceded in death by his aunts, Pam (Charles) and Patricia; his cousin, David Pelkey (Tina); and his grandparents, Harold and Margaret Boyer, and Howard and Gertrude Pelkey. Kyle’s memory will be forever treasured by his family and friends, who will miss his warmth and the light he brought into their lives.​

A visitation for Kyle will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093. A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location.​

​A tragic shooting unfolded at Martin’s Super Market in Elkhart, Indiana, on January 27, 2025, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including the suspected shooter, and injuries to two police officers.​

Around 5:30 p.m., Elkhart police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the grocery store. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims deceased inside the store. As they engaged with the suspect outside, two officers were wounded, and the suspect was fatally shot. One officer has since been released from the hospital, while the other remains in stable condition. ​

Authorities have not publicly released the names of the victims, suspect, or the injured officers, pending family notifications. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation.

Enlisting in the United States Army, Dan served honorably during the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering dedication and courage. He received an honorable discharge in 1970, marking the end of his military service but not his commitment to serving others.​

Following his military service, Dan relocated to California, where he spent several decades building a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and community involvement. In 2019, he moved to Wichita, Kansas, to be closer to family and to embrace a new chapter in his life.​

Dan’s life was characterized by quiet strength and a steadfast commitment to his loved ones and fellow veterans. His humility and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He faced health challenges, including congestive heart failure, with resilience and grace, never allowing them to diminish his spirit.​

A formal memorial service honoring Dan’s life and military service was held on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. The ceremony paid tribute to his service and the profound impact he had on his community.​

 is with​It profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jami Lea Strinz, a cherished member of the Oregon community and the head softball coach at Umpqua Community College (UCC). Jami tragically lost her life on April 18, 2025, following a devastating vehicle accident in Coos County.​

On the evening of the incident, while returning from a game in Coos Bay, the UCC softball team’s bus, driven by Jami, was involved in a head-on collision on Oregon Highway 42. A westbound Chevrolet Silverado crossed the centerline and collided with the team’s Chevrolet Express bus. Jami was critically injured and later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Freshman player Kiley Nevaeh Jones, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Eight other team members sustained moderate to serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in Eugene and Portland. The driver of the Silverado also suffered serious injuries. Oregon State Police have indicated that impaired driving is suspected as a primary cause of the crash, and a criminal investigation is ongoing. ​

Jami’s commitment to the sport and her players was unparalleled. As the inaugural head coach of UCC’s softball program, she brought a wealth of experience and a deep passion for athletics. Her leadership and dedication laid a strong foundation for the team’s future. ​
