CHEYENNE, WY – June 2, 2025 — A Cheyenne man is in custody after a violent stabbing left another man with life-threatening injuries in a residential neighborhood on Sunday evening.

The Cheyenne Police Department responded to a call for service at approximately 6:18 p.m. on June 1, 2025, in the 2400 block of Pattinson Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency personnel immediately rendered aid at the scene before transporting the victim to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

According to police, the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Sterling Null, had already fled the scene before officers arrived. Witnesses informed police of Null’s identity and direction of travel, prompting a swift manhunt. Investigators say Null was later located and taken into custody without further incident.

Details of the attack reveal a deeply disturbing sequence of events. Authorities say that prior to the stabbing, Null was observed driving a Dodge passenger car at an excessive rate of speed. He entered a parking area on Pattinson Avenue, where he crashed into a vehicle belonging to a family member, causing a chain-reaction collision that pushed the impacted vehicle into the victim’s parked truck.
